Success story of the month
Journey of my success
by Tenzing Kalden
I’ve lived here in Toronto about five years
now and only came to know about the Weekly Wednesday Program back in December
2009 where Kalsang introduced me to this program. I couldn’t forget the first workshop I
attended. It was a toy making workshop which was very convenient because it was
right before x-mas. We made handmade toys that we could give to our friends,
parents. It was a great place to socialize and also let my creativity flow.
From then on, I started attending the program every week. I honestly, looked
forward to the programs because it had so much to offer. Through the program, I
was able to broaden my knowledge in such issues as health, online safety, and I
also got the opportunity to volunteer and be more active within the community.
I’ve always had a fear of speaking in public or during a presentation. With the help of English Language Development, I was able to overcome my fears and just a month ago, I was an MC for an event with around 200 people.
Thanks to the programs and workshop, I got an opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience which led me to a part-time position as a Computer Assistant Person for PCIC.

Literature
Assassinated by an Assassin
by Tenzin Namsel youth 13 yrs
The final hack at the neck ended the valiant man’s life. “He’s coming for me!!” thought Chimozan. The poor boy was at the brink of madness, yet he managed to control himself. “I must remember that I have skills that are very powerful,” thought Chimozan.
You see this young boy was a ninja - trained very well in the arts of magic and martial arts. Chimozan slid his sword from his scabbard and got ready to fight to the end. Unlike other ninjas, he was brave and only fate would decide which man would triumph. Finally the man appeared, his face filled with different scars, the man demanded, “Surrender ninja, or die!!” Then, with that Chimozan struck, they were equally matched; slicing and hacking and parrying so quickly, that the slightest miscalculation meant certain death. Suddenly, Chimozan found a huge advantage, and feinted an upper slice, the man fell for it by bringing up his sword to parry the blow, leaving his whole chest exposed. Chimozan knew, “kill or be killed”. He sent a stab in the chest, the man fell. Blood started oozing from his chest. Chimozan fled into the darkness of the forest, knowing his mission was finally complete.
